FAQDensity/Specific Gravity Meters

Density/Specific Gravity Meters

Q
What materials are used in the liquid-contact unit in the DA-130N portable density/specific gravity meter?
A

The materials in the liquid-contact unit are shown below.

  • Sampling nozzle: Fluorine resin
  • Measurement cell: Borosilicate glass
  • Built-in syringe: Polypropylene
  • Screw plug: Polybutylene terephthalate
  • O-ring: Special chemical-resistant fluorine rubber
  • Joint connectors: Polyphenylene sulfide

The measurement cell is made of borosilicate glass.
Liquids that dissolve glass such as fluoric acids and highly alkaline samples (sodium hydroxide for example) will seep into the measurement cell. To ensure a long operating life, be careful to clean the cell immediately after measurement.

The polybutylene terephthalate in the screw plug is not resistant to strongly alkaline substances.
If necessary, KEM can change the screw plug to one made of alkali-proof materials.
In this case, check with your KEM sales representative.
