FAQDensity/Specific Gravity Meters

Density/Specific Gravity Meters

Q
Can samples containing solid particles be measured?
A

Generally speaking, oscillation type density meters are intended for uniform liquids.
It is highly likely that measurement will become problematic if there are solid particles in the sample.
If the solid particles are dispersed uniformly in solution without sedimentation, the samples may be measured. However, such measurements are often problematic in terms of stability because the oscillation cycle is hard to stabilize. In such cases, configure the measuring time limit to about 2 to 3 minutes, and forcibly terminate the measurement when this time limit is reached.
After the measurement, there will likely be sample residue in the measurement cell, so it must be cleaned well.
